Talbot with Another Big “First”

Cam Talbot + first pro starts = good stuff.

Talbot was huge for the Whale in last night’s playoff opener in Bridgeport, blanking the Sound Tigers 3-0 in his first professional playoff start.  That harkens back to the second-year pro’s first-ever pro start, in which he also put up a zero.  That was a 3-0 win in Providence October 17, 2010, in which Talbot made 41 saves, becoming the first goaltender in franchise history to record a shutout in his first start as a professional.

The 42 stops Talbot made in Game One were the most ever by a Whale/Wolf Pack goalie in a postseason shutout, eclipsing the 40 that J.F. Labbe made in Game Five of the Calder Cup Finals against Rochester June 2, 2000.

Although Ken Gernander and his cohorts now might want to use some psychological trickery to convince Talbot that every game is his debut, the University of Alabama Huntsville product’s recent performance indicates that the playoff opener was no fluke.  Over his last six appearances of the regular year, Talbot allowed only six goals on 164 shots in 359 minutes of play and had two shutouts.  Taking into account last night’s effort, he now has a 0.86 goals-against average and a 97.1% save percentage, along with three shutouts, in his last seven outings.

ok so a 6th seed takes out a 3 sead and no one else has advanced. if saracuse 7th seed beats saint jhons 2nd seed and norfolk 1st seed beats manchester 8th wed be a 3rd sead . then it would be
    1st norfolk vs 4 saracuse
2nd bears or pens vs 3rd whale in round 2
if manchester wins 8th seed ag norfolk 1st seed and saint jhons beats saracuse wed be in 3rd in the 2nd round . then it would be
1st st jhons vs 4 manchester
2nd bears or pens vs 3rd round whale in round
if both 7th seed and 8th seed saracuse and manchester beat 1st and 2nd seed st jhons wed be a 2nd seed. then it would be
1st bears or pens vs 4 manchester
    2nd whale vs 3rd saracuse
if both 1st and 2nd seed norfolk and st jhon beat 7th and 8th seed manchester and saracuse wed be 4th. then it be
1st place norfok vs 4th place whale
2nd place st jhon vs 2nd place bears or pens.
by my calculations we cant play manchester or st jhon in round 2 and i seed the pens and bears toghether because being the 2 middle seeds and us being 1 lower i think sanario wise there searieas will have the least effect on who we play reason for this is unless the botom 2 seads both advance and that usually isint likley there is a 2/3rds chance we will play the winner of that searies.
